I have found that trying to do to much on the first date doesn't often turn out the way it was planned. So, I would say to dress casual and, hopefully it's a nice day, have a nice picnic. I would prepare the food myself, not store bought sandwiches and all, hoping you would notice the effort. There's something about a picnic that seems to relax people. It's a lot easier to get to know a person if both parties are in a comfortable enviorment. After that, I like to go do something we had just found out we both enjoy doing. If I walk away from picnic, with my date and are both smiling, that would make it ideal.
